It is almost 40 years since Paul Oxley's Unit formed in a rehearsal basement in Ekenäs in 1979. A string of No1 hit singles, Platinum and gold albums, record attendance tours, TV performances and high profile gigs, with the likes of U2, Toto, Deep Purple and others, has raised the band to legendary status in Finland. A new album from the band is always a cause of great interest and many fans are looking forward to the next one with huge anticipation.
All the gods were happy will be the 6th studio album from Paul Oxley's Unit. As always, 10 tracks of the highest standard, both musically and lyrically, recorded in Vaasa with, multi platinum producer, Janne Hyöty. “I absolutely loved making this album” explains Paul “It just seemed to flow from day one and we are all extremely happy with it”. Two singles have already been released and the title track 'All the gods were happy' is now available on Spotify.
All the gods were happy is a nostalgic trip into memories past, and reflective thoughts of what might be. Charged with emotional performances by Paul and the Unit, it leaps from sad memories of lost and unrequited love to angry concern for the human race. The song styles are quite varied, from classic Unit rock, pop, 80's influenced beats such as 'When she smiles it feels like summer', to sentimental, melancholic reflections, as in the title track, 'All the gods were happy' and the haunting, orchestrated 'Wizard of Os' to the out and out rock style of 'Big Foot'.“
There really is something for everyone in this album” says Paul “even a hurdy gurdy and I can't wait for people to hear it”.
